Field of Dreams

On the way from McGregor to Des Moines, we kept the baseball themed summer going with a stop at Field of Dreams.

We saw the house, sat in the bleachers...

Played in the corn (and lost Daniel, who ended up going to the bathroom without telling anyone)

And even got to play baseball on the field.

We also made a stop in Cedar Rapids for one last goodbye with the cousins.

McGregor Summer 2018

On the way back from Wisconsin, we stopped in McGregor for some family time. We got to see lots of family, spend time on the river, and hit some fun McGregor spots.

Josh wanted to try it, too.

It was a great way to end a wonderful vacation filled with lots of fun memories.

Wisconsin Dells

Every two years the Strutt family tries to get together for a family vacation. This year we all met in Wisconsin Dells. We found a house big enough to sleep all 27 of us and rented it for a few days.

We met most everyone in Iowa City and stopped for lunch at Backpocket before caravanning up to the Dells.

We made it just in time for dinner.

Food line

Grandma came prepared with toys for everyone.

Grandpa brought the stories.

No trip to the Dells is complete without a duck ride (at least in my opinion) so we found a tour that would fit all of us and we loaded up on the boat/truck.

We drove on the company's own trail and into the river to enjoy the views.

It only rained a little and the boat only swamped once, so I would say it was a successful tour.

With this many kids around, moments like this were few and far between. (Although, a movie will do that to most kids)

We made it into "downtown" for an afternoon where we ate lunch and tried to free the wizards at Wizard Quest (a very good time).

Another stop on the trip was a visit to the "World's Largest Water Park" Noah's Arc. It was tricky keeping track of 15 kids who all wanted to go one different rides, but I think they all had fun and the parents/grandparents all survived.

There was a lot of playing and a lot of quality time spent together.

Life is fun with this many cousins around.

Can't wait to do it again in two years!

Kids Obstacle Challenge

The boys wanted to participate in an obstacle course challenge this summer. So we invited some baseball friends, and hit the course.

Josh and his friend did the competitive level. He wanted a chance to earn prizes.

He started off strong but then realized running over a mile is hard. Especially when you have to do obstacles as well.

They both finished strong though.

Daniel and his friend did the recreational level and just had a blast running through mud and crossing ropes.

Patrick and Dad even participated in the under 7 level for kids and parents. I think Patrick enjoyed it.

Great job, boys!
