First Floor Remodel

Joe has wanted new carpet on the main level for a while. We always said we would wait until all the kids were potty trained. Well, that was a few years ago. I have wanted new countertops in the kitchen since we moved in. So this year, we decided to completely re-do the main level. With hard wood floors, new countertops and new appliances. We found the contractor and set the date. All we needed to do was remove the current floor coverings (carpet, laminate, and linoleum). It took more than a few days, but at least we had a lot of help. The boys loved it.

Then the wood had to sit in the house for a few days.

The company we hired was amazing. They got the floor installed, stained, and sealed in just a long weekend (which also happened to be the weekend we were out of town). It was done by the time we got home.

It looks great.

Next came the countertops.

I am so excited with how it turned out. It looks great. And the countertops are so much easier to clean.

Baseball Tournament

This year Josh's baseball team decided to do a weekend tournament. The only weekend they were free was over Memorial Day weekend. So we drove up to Loveland for a weekend full of baseball.

The hotel was amazing. They had this sign in the lobby for the boys and gift baskets in each room.

The team pretty much took over the hotel with the parents hanging out at night on the patio, the boys taking over the pool after they were done for the day...

...and hanging out in the lobby watching "The Sandlot" during a break in the action.

The boys did great for their first tournament. They went 2-2 for the weekend and even made the playoffs on Monday.

It was such a fun weekend. We even played against a friend's team. We can't wait to do more tournaments next year.

Little Guy is 4!

I can't believe my baby is 4! How can he be so big? He's my baby.

We had a baseball tournament out of town on his actual birthday, so we went out with the Weldons a few days before. He got to pick where we went out for dinner and of course he picked Red Robin (they have good mac 'n cheese).

He was very excited when they sang to him and gave him his free ice cream.

The morning of his birthday, we did take him out for breakfast.

I think he was pretty excited about his chocolate croissant.

This was the first year he got to have a "friends" birthday party. We planned it at an indoor amusement park called Lollipop Park. They have about six rides for kids. He loves this place and was very excited to play there with all his friends from school.

Of course it was a Star Wars theme.

I'd say he had a fun day.

Happy 4th Birthday Buddy! We love you.

Field Day

Field Day at Heritage Elementary School. Always an exciting day. The kids get to spend almost two hours outside doing fun activities instead of sitting inside learning. Yay! The generally have the same activities each year with a few new ones thrown in. This year they had a bouncy house.
Sack Race

Ball Walk

Karate Class (this was new this year)

Relay Tic-Tac-Toe

Chicken Toss

Bouncy House!

Patrick was very excited he got to participate in some of the events this year. Just think, next year he'll be with his own Kindergarten class. 😢

Preschool End of Year Party

Patrick's preschool had their end of year party at school. It was supposed to be at a park, but the weather was not cooperating. The kids still enjoyed themselves. What's not to like? They got muffins, juice, and still got to play with their friends.

We were lucky to have a great group of teachers for Patrick. And, he gets to have all of them next year for preschool, too.

Thanks for a great year. We can't wait to see you all in the fall.

Daniel's Patriotic Program

Every year in 1st grade, they have a Patriotic lesson where they get to learn all about America and all the American symbols. At the end of the lesson, they put together a program for the parents to enjoy. They dress up in shirts they made, sing songs and each have a speaking part as part of a group.

Then, we get to go back to the classroom to see all the projects they made as part of this lesson.

It's pretty cute and got Daniel very excited about the American flag, National Anthem, and wanting to visit some of the places he learned about. I guess we'll have to take a trip sometime soon while he's still excited.

Young Minds At Work

Every year, Joe's office does Young Minds at Work day. The boys did it last year so were very excited to get to go back to work with Dad. I'm not sure exactly what happened but here are some photos.

They each got to make, and launch a pop bottle rocket.

They also got to participate in a launch as mission control.

Dad had an afternoon meeting, so I picked them up and we stopped at Chick Fil'a before heading back to school.

This guy had preschool in the morning but got to join us for lunch.

The big boys had a blast. Daniel is always inspired to build rockets to fly to Mars. He really enjoys getting to see how things work at Dad's office.
