Iowa State vs Kansas

Also on Fall Break, we drove to Iowa and took Josh to an Iowa State game. They were playing Kansas. It was pouring and freezing outside, so we camped our car next to a trailer with a TV and tailgated inside.

Well, most of us did. Of course, kids don't care about weather.

It was a great game with a fantastic outcome (45-0).

Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs

Over the boys' Fall Break this year, we finally got to stay at the Great Wolf Lodge down in Colorado Springs. We had heard they were building one and couldn't wait for it to open. We stayed two nights and spent the full two days at the waterpark. The boys loved it.

There were four big slides, a wave pool, a playground with slides and squirt guns, and a kiddie area.

Patrick was too scared to go down any of the big slides so he stuck to the kiddie area.

The big boys had no issues with all the slides. Mom and Dad even had a few rides.

The Wave Pool was also a big hit.

The entire month of October, the hotel was celebrating Halloween. So one night, we dressed up in costumes and walked around paling games.

Patrick's favorite thing to do (once he came out of the kiddie area) was this rope challenge. He loved it and would go across it over and over again.

The second night we were there, our friends come down to stay too so the kids had some friends to hang out with.

Daniel's favorite slide was called the Wolf's Tail. It was a slide that dropped you straight down and around. You started on a platform that would then drop out and down you went. He loved it!
Josh enjoyed the Howllin' Tornado. You set in a four person tube and drop into a bowl that eventually spits you out at the end. The "bowl" was outside so at night, it was pitch black.
We stayed in a "cabin suite" which had a cabin inside the room with three beds and a TV. We weren't allowed in their cabin and they weren't allowed in our room. It was a nice set up.

It was a great trip that we will definitely need to do again. Anyone want to come?

Orange Crush Flag Football

Patrick entered the world of flag football this fall. His team was the Orange Crush. We knew the coach from soccer and there were a few boys from school on the team as well.

They had a rough start to the season but ended strong. It was fun to watch him learn as the season went along.

Great season Orange Crush!

Landsharks Cross County Season

With all of the Daniel's running, and complaining he wants to run his own speed, we signed him up for cross country through Landsharks. They have practice once a week and three races (including one that ended up being in freezing rain). The runners can run 1/2 mile, 1 mile or 1 1/2 miles. Of course, he chose the 1 1/2 mile race.

He finished 10th in the first race, 7th in the second race with a time of 14:01.96 minutes and 12th in the 3rd race with a time of 15:08.9.

He also ran a 1 mile race through our high school cross country team.

He's our little runner. Keep it up, buddy!

Heritage Fund Run

Today the boys' school held their annual Fund Run to raise money for the school. Each student gets pledges and then has 30 minutes to run as many laps as they can. 10 laps equaled 1 mile.

I ran with Patrick who made it around 19 times!

Daniel wanted crazy hair

Daniel ran 23 laps!

Since Patrick had to hang out with me all day, he at least had fun squirting kids with a water gun. Especially Daniel.

Josh made it around 21 times.

"H" for Heritage

This was Josh's last Fund Run for Heritage. This year will be a lot of lasts. 😢

Iowa State/Iowa Football

The boys had no school on Friday, so we headed out of town (without Josh) to make it out for the Iowa State vs Iowa football game.

We set up our tailgate bright and early and enjoyed a fun morning of food, friends, and football.

The game didn't end the way we wanted it to, but it was a great game.

Go State!

Broncos 7k

We signed up to run the Broncos 7k again this year with Joe's sister, Kerry. It was a little tougher this year for Daniel (he did not like running the same speed as me). It was still a cool race for me and Kerry though. How many times do you get to run into the stadium through the same tunnel the players use?

It was the 5th annual race so they had medals to celebrate. And they were huge!

How else do you celebrate running a 7k and getting a medal the size of a plate?
