Christmas in McGregor

We traveled to McGregor, IA, to visit with family for the holidays. We started with a potluck lunch at the apartments with the Henkes crew on Saturday. There were a few missing due to illness, and others due to schedules, but it was a fun gathering with great family and great food.

Sunday we spent the day at Grandma and Grandpa Great's house to hang out with the Strutt side.

There were plenty of kids to hang out with. The kids have a lot of 2nd cousins.

 Since Sunday was Christmas Eve, we headed up to the Methodist church for their candlelight service.

Then we headed back to Grandma and Grandpa Great's house for dinner.

Christmas at home

We celebrated Christmas early this year, as usual. The boys got to pick out new ornaments to commemorate the year. Then we decorated the tree. 

This year, we bought a Lego train to eventually put under the big tree (the Christmas Story one broke. 😢). The boys had fun building it with Daddy.  

We also kept up the tradition of building a Rice Krispie train for Santa. Each boy decorated a car. 

We put out the treats with orange juice and the train. 

Then we woke up early to see what he had left us. 

We must have been very good this year. We were spoiled!

School Holiday Parties

The boys' had their Holiday parties are school today. (Josh's last party at Heritage. 😢)

They all had fun (I think). Many games were played. 

And treats were made, than eaten. 

Josh's class had an ugly sweater contest. There were some good ones.

Christmas with the Colorado Weldons

We had Christmas with the Colorado Weldons early since we were both taking trips for the holiday. We hosted a dinner and then had a present opening. 

I think everyone enjoyed themselves. We may have even had a laugh or two at Alex's expense. Thanks for the box, dude!

Ugly Sweater Run

This year, while Abby was in town from Germany for the holidays, we signed up for the annual Ugly Sweater Run downtown. We had planned to run this last year but it ended up being a high of -1 that day with a foot of snow on the ground, so we bowed out (but kept the medal. 😜)

This year the weather was perfect, and so was the company. 

We even made the local news' online photo gallery. 

It was a lot of fun and not that bad of a run. Thanks for pushing us to do it, Abby! Same time next year?
