Divide and Conquer

We finally experienced the divide and conquer method of parenting this weekend. Both Josh and Daniel had football games which were scheduled at 2pm and 3pm, respectively. So, we caravanned to Josh's game. He had a good game. Scored a two-point conversion and pulled three flags on defense. I didn't get any pictures of the game. They ended up winning 24-6.

About half-way through Josh's game, Dad and Daniel had to leave for Daniel's game. When, Josh's game was over, I packed everything up and headed over to Daniel's game. It was half-way over but I did get there in time to see him score his first touchdown. He was so excited! His team won 42-36 with a last minute touchdown. It was a great day!

Mini Vacation

It doesn't happen often when we all have a day off. So we took the opportunity to go on a mini family vacation to Glenwood Springs. Josh only had a half day of school so Daddy took the afternoon off and we drove up into the mountains.

We stopped in Idaho Springs for lunch at Beau Jo's. The boys enjoyed the salad bar.

Then, we popped in a movie for the two hour drive to Glenwood Springs.

Dad and I enjoyed the amazing views.

We got to Glenwood Springs and stopped downtown for some ice cream.

Then made it over to the hotel. It was a nice room. We put on swimsuits and headed to the pool. The boys loved swimming. Josh even surprised me with his ability to swim. I guess I don't get him to the pool enough. Who knew?

After everyone got dried off, we headed to the lobby for the hotel's dinner. It was a taco bar. Yum!

After dinner, the big boys got to shoot some hoops with Dad while Patrick and I wound down in the room.

Then we settled in for the night. The room had great space for everyone to sleep.

Dad and I even had a separate sleeping area where we got to watch a movie that wasn't a cartoon. Yeah!

The next day we enjoyed a nice breakfast at the hotel, checked out, and went to Glenwood Springs Caverns. We took a tram to the top of a mountain. The boys loved the trip up.

We walked through a maze,

had a nice lunch at the Lookout Grill, then took the tram back down to the car.

We popped in another movie and headed down (or really up, then down, continental divide and all) the mountain. We made another stop in Idaho Springs to return the movie (Red Box is awesome) and get more ice cream (I love vacation!). It was a nice little family getaway. We will have to do this more often.
 

 

Football Saturday

This really was a full day of football. We started out at 10am and didn't get home until 4:30pm. Whew!

We started with pictures and a game for Daniel. 

The pictures and the game were at two different fields so we got the pictures done then grabbed lunch on the way to the game. Daniel made it through the whole game without whining, which is a win in itself. I don't think the team ended up winning, but they are starting to get the hang of it. Just in time for their last few games.

He did get to run with the ball.

From there we had some free time so let the kids run around at the park. We got up to go and realized we had lost the car keys. Luckily my friend had a spare set to our house so she was able to run us over our spare car keys. The boys and I left for Josh's pictures and left dad to search for the lost keys.

We made it for the pictures then went back to the other field to pick up Dad (who had found the keys in the grass) then back to the first field for Josh's game (his pictures and game were at the same field).

Josh had a close game but they ended up losing 6-8. He did grab a couple of flags though.

The day started out warm but turned cold by Josh's game. Here is the team trying to stay warm on the sideline.

It was a long day!

Snow Day

Because of the major storm today (maybe 4 inches, total. I think the weathermen jumped the gun on this one), school was cancelled. So, we had to find things to entertain us all afternoon (I had an appointment this morning so Dad worked from home to stay with the boys).

We made some cookies (green chocolate chip)

We played a lot of UNO (Jelly Belly special edition provided by Grandma Weldon).

It was a fun snow day. I hope everyone stayed warm!

Josh's 1st Football Game

This spring we finally get to experience life with two boys in sports. We are taking the divide and conquer approach. It should be interesting. 

This Saturday was Josh's 1st football game with his new team. They did really well. 

Josh scored two touchdowns and a 2-pt conversion.

One of the touchdowns came after the original play collapsed so the quarterback just tossed the ball to Josh who took off running down the sideline and scored. 

It was a good game. 

Daniel's team had a bye-week. We'll see what happens next week when Daniel has a double header and Josh has a game at the same time (with Mom being out of town). Good luck, Daddy!

Easter

We had a nice quiet Easter Sunday. 

It started with finding the Easter baskets. 

Then, the big boys couldn't wait to find the Easter Eggs the bunny left. The bunny was tricky this year and hid them in the front instead of the back. It had them confused for a while. 

They saw some on the way to church so we had to stop so they could find them all.

After church, we hung out at home for a few hours and then headed over to Tom and Shelley's for a nice Easter dinner. The evening ended with a rousing game of "I Spy", which lasted quite a long time. It was a fun day.
